Dear Parents,
Today was our first full day of camp and it was a blast! Thanks to our amazing MAD (Moms and Dads) Crew, our team games have been SO fun! Slime, “Jaba-Jaba,” more slime, capture the flag, and a huge “mission impossible” game all around campus! Free time was also filled with swimming, a HUGE slip-n-slide, zip lining, sports, and milkshakes from the snack shack!
The food has also been delicious! Last night we had pasta, this morning we had eggs, sausage, and French toast, for lunch we had chicken tenders & mac n cheese, and for dinner we had fried chicken with mashed potatoes and vegetables. On top of all of this, our incredible “Camp Mom,” Rosy Avila, has been preparing snacks and desserts in between meals! Your students are never going hungry or thirsty over here on Rosy’s watch! 😊
Lastly for today's recap – we are SO thankful for the incredible Shawn Farrell preaching the Word and my bro Josh Villatoro (from Grace Community Church) leading us in worship! Shawn has been preaching through 1 Timothy 4:12: “Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.”
Here’s what we have learned so far:
Session 1—(Monday night) Intro
This message introduced the overall topic. The key principle being that our students are not too young to live for Christ. Jesus saves young people and uses them in the Scriptures and today. The second principle is that our students are called as young people to be an example to other believers, even in this stage of life.
Session 2—(Tuesday Morning) Speech
In this message, we looked at the topic of our tongue. We examined the nature of language, seeing it as a gift from God. We then looked at ways that we sin with our tongue followed by ways we can use our tongue for good.
Session 3—(Tuesday Night) Purity
In this message, we talked about how to live a pure life. As these are junior highers, we talked about purity of mind, desire, and lust but in somewhat veiled terms. Shawn went to Psalm 86:11 “Give me an undivided heart” as a springboard to talk about living wholeheartedly for Christ. This means no split desires, the world and the Lord, but all in, 100%, for Christ.
Thank you so much for entrusting your students to us! They are having so much fun, all are healthy and taken care of, and we are praying that the Lord will radically change each of their hearts – either through salvation or sanctification.
Please be praying for our remaining time - that we would continue to be safe and that students will begin to seriously ponder and apply what the Lord is teaching us through His Word.
In Him,
Terrell Medina
