Dear Parents,
Each day I become more amazed and thankful for how awesome our staff is! I wish you could be here just to walk around and see staff and students spread out everywhere having intentional conversations about their relationship with the Lord. There are so many volunteers who have come, taken a week off of work, and are now pushing through full days and late nights pouring out everything they can for our students! Please be praying for them as they continue to pursue your students and lead them to Christ!
The reviews keep coming in - this “camp food” has been so good! This morning we had some eggs, bacon, and biscuits & gravy for breakfast! There is also always a table filled with fruits, yogurt, and cereals. For lunch, we had burgers with fries and mini corn dogs! For dinner, we had roast beef, vegetables, and bread with ice cream for dessert! Also, our camp mom and dad - Rosy & David Avila - have been killing it with the snacks all day! They have even created a snack wagon that they roll all around campus during free time with drinks, fruit, granola bars, and other snack items! They are the best!
On another note, you can rest assured that your students are well taken care of health-wise! We have two licensed nurses on site - Tracy Farrell & Ray Santos! Also, our camp mom takes care of most of the minor owies. We are so thankful for them!
I can write a ton about all the fun we’re having with games, free time activities, and the talent show we just had! But the best way for you to see a ton of these moments is by following our Instagram: @rise_fbc
The sessions have been incredible thanks to Shawn Farrell. The students love him and have had great conversations from the sermons. Here is what we have covered today:
Session 4—(Wednesday morning) Faith
This message looked at the instruction given to people of faith. We interpret this word as “faithful.” We saw how faithful people live in their various roles. We looked at their role as children under their parents. It was a message about obedience to parents framed through faithful living.
Session 5—(Wednesday night) Conduct
In this message, we looked at how we are to live as followers of Christ. What should our lives actually look like according to Scripture? To make this easier, we used some OT characters as examples for both good and bad. Josiah, Esther, Cain, Ruth, Esau, Rack Shack and Benny (Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego).
Please be praying for the rest of our time here. We only have one more full day of camp! And, tomorrow night, we will have our final session focused on love and the greatest act of love ever displayed! Pray for radical heart change - for students to finally surrender their lives completely to Christ!
In Him,
