Dear Parent,
I am so thrilled to welcome your student to JH Summer Camp 2021! We are going to have a blast. I am praying that the Lord will work mightily in the heart of your student this year at camp. Our MAD (Moms and Dads) Crew is loading up the camp trailer, our staff is praying and preparing for a weekend full of discipleship, Josh Petras is prepping 5 sessions in Exodus, Matt Ng is finalizing songs, and I am 3 coffees down by noon. PACKING LIST / MODESTY LETTER:
NO PHONE POLICY:
In an effort to protect our students from the dangers of technology and the internet, I am asking students to NOT bring their cell phones or any other device to camp. If you would like them to bring their phone in order to communicate with you periodically, we will collect their phones at check-in and keep them charged and safe with us for the weekend (please provide their phone charger if you would like to do this). If they ever need to use it to contact you, they can simply ask any of our staff. Also, they can just use my or any staff's phone to contact you. And you can contact me at any point if you have any questions or concerns (contact info at the bottom of this email). My heart is only to protect our students and to eliminate any distractions for the weekend.
FOOD / LODGING / SHOWER INFO:
The food is going to be delicious and your student will never go hungry (see meal times on camp schedule below). There will always be water available to them and we will even have snacks available to them throughout the day. If your student has any food allergies, our camp nurse (Dojo Aguilar) is aware of it if you indicated it during registration. This also applies to all other allergies or medicine needs - Dojo has a complete list of it all and will dedicate the weekend to making sure your student is safe.
Students will sleep in dorms with other students. Girls with girls and boys with boys. Staff will be spread out in their own rooms. Staff will only share a room with another staff member and students will only share a room with another student of the same gender. Bathrooms and showers are renovated and super nice. If your student would like to shower (boys sometimes don't - gross but true), we ask that they shower in their bathing suits and flip-flops. Staff will never use the same bathrooms or showers as students - they will have their own on a completely different floor. Room assignments will be provided at check-in. Please no special requests - we will try our best to room students with their friends. Please let me know if you have any questions.
TEAM COLORS / NAMES:
Click the link below to view which team your student is on, what their team color is, and what their team name is. This is helpful as you pack for the weekend - come decked out in your team color! Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the teams or if you don't see your student listed.
CAMP SCHEDULE:
TALENT SHOW:
We will have a Summer Camp Talent Show on Saturday (6/19)! If your student would like to participate, they can sign-up beginning this Wednesday night at our Camp Movie Night (see details below). If you or your student have any questions about the Talent Show, please don't hesitate to ask me!
CAMP MOVIE NIGHT:
Yes, we are still meeting the Wednesday night before camp (6/16)! We will have a fun Camp Movie Night which will basically be our first night of camp! :) Students can come dressed in their pajamas, bring a blanket, and bring their own candy/snacks. We will watch The Prince of Egypt - the perfect movie to watch before we head to camp and Josh Petras preaches through the book of Exodus! This night, we will meet at FBC Temecula (27464 Jefferson Ave #6C, Temecula, CA 92590) at our regular time, 6:15 - 8:15 PM. During this night, we will also pass out Camp T-Shirts! It's going to be so fun.
JH SUMMER CAMP TEASER VIDEO:
NOT TOO LATE TO SIGN-UP JH FRIENDS!
Please make every last effort to invite JH friends, family, and neighbors! We want to reach as many students with the gospel as possible. The pandemic has hurt many families and our corrupt culture is dragging students into immorality, fear, depression, and anxiety. We need to make every effort to reach the lost. Do not let money be an issue for them, we still have scholarships available. They can find both the sign-up link and scholarship application form on www.fbcyouth.net.
CAMP REWIND + BURGER BASH (6/27):
On Sunday Night, June 27th, we will host a BURGER BASH for all JH parents, students, and family! We will cook up some delicious burgers for your family and it will be an excellent opportunity for you to meet your student's Discipleship Group Leader and ask them how camp went specifically for your student! Burger Bash will be from 4:30 - 5:30 PM. Afterward, we will have our CAMP REWIND (6 - 7:30 PM) where we will reflect on all the Lord did at our HS and JH summer camps. There will be recap videos and special testimonies and... the FBC Ice Cream Truck! Both the BURGER BASH and CAMP REWIND will be at Murrieta Valley High School (42200 Nighthawk Way, Murrieta, CA 92562). Hope you can join us for both!
This was a long email. But hopefully helpful for you. Please let me know if you have any further questions. I am SO excited for Summer Camp!
