[RISE Weekly] Bear One Another's Burdens!
Galatians 6:3 "Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ."
Dear Parents,
Camp is almost here! Only 5 more days and we’ll be there! Summer camp is June 23-26 at Native Falls Campground, just thirty minutes away! There will be games, swimming, basketball, pickleball, fishing, a talent show, singing songs of praise, preaching of the word, discipleship, small groups, one on one conversations, and so much more. We are praying and hoping that the Lord will be at work through this camp to save students and bring them to Himself. The previous email sent out had TONS of super both helpful as well as needed camp information! So if you missed that, please give it a read!
It is not too late to get signed up nor to invite friends! Camp is an awesome time and everyone is invited! Here is the registration link!
Youth is back on tonight!
TONIGHT we will meet at FAITH BIBLE CHURCH (23580 Glazebrook Rd, Wildomar, 92595)! Join us from 6:30–8:30 PM on the GRASS FIELD! There will be WATER GAMES, gaga ball, devotional time, and a sermon!
There will be water games tonight! Prepare accordingly!
We will be playing with water and students will get wet!
Have your students bring a towel and appropriate clothes to get wet in!
As Christians, we can glorify the Lord in everything that we do. Modesty is no exception! We can dress for the approval and gaze of mankind, or we can dress in a way that is pleasing to the Lord! Modesty and appropriate dress are always priorities at any junior high event, but tonight as it is a water game night I wanted to bring special attention to it!
If you have any further questions regarding specifics or reasons, first read this modesty letter sent out by Terrell, our high school pastor, for camp! And if you have more questions after reading that - feel free to shoot me a text!
Sermon Preview!
As this is the Wednesday leading into camp, we’re planning on doing things a little bit differently. I love our junior high students! They are so fun, they listen well, they know a lot of things, and often have the “right” answers. One thing that I have noticed about them is that a great number of them work very hard to be perfect. Which seems like a good thing! Matthew 5:48 “Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” The problem is, their attempt is often at an external perfection. Their deeds are “good”, the words they say are “righteous,” and they appear to be good students.
But when we read Galatians 6, we find what our rightful demeanor should be. First, we should bear one another’s burdens, which already entails honesty. In order to support one another and build one another up, we must first be honest about our struggles. A righteous exterior means nothing if the interior itself is corrupt. Second, we find in Galatians that we must humble ourselves and realize that we, as Paul says it, are nothing. We have no reason to boast apart from the fact that we are loved by and have been saved by Jesus Christ. We must stop playing pretend righteous, stop judging others about their honesty about their sin, and humble ourselves before man and especially before the Lord!
See you tonight!
In Christ,
Johnny
