[RISE Weekly] Count It As Loss!
Philippians 3:8 "More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord,
Dear Parents,
A special farewell!
I can’t believe that it’s already upon us, but our 8th graders’ final night is here! For the last three years it has been our privilege and delight to get to spend time with these 8th graders. Over the years these students have come to feel like permanent additions to our ministry, but tonight we will gather one last time to say goodbye! I have been in this ministry since they all came in as fresh 6th graders, and it is so cool to reflect on who they were and look at who they have grown to be! They entered as a group of young and immature students who must of us didn’t know very well, and now they are leaving as a group of older, wiser, and more mature students! And wha a joy it has been to see them and run alongside them throughout the years. It has been such a treasure to have these students and, as sad as we are to see them leave, we are excited to see what the Lord has in store for them in the years ahead!

Tonight we will be working through an Philippians 3! This chapter is written by Paul and it is all about the goal of the believer. He starts the chapter by describing his previous success, his accomplishments, his accolades, and then says he counts it all as loss. All of his worldly fame and fortune that the whole earth is striving after- Paul declares it to be “rubbish.” Why? So that he may gain Christ. Paul had the things that men pursued, and yet he knew that all of them pale before our Savior. We spend so much effort pursuing the things of this world and striving to achieve greatness in this world, but Christ is all that we need. The world will fade away, mankind’s riches will spoil, but Christ will endure forever! This is our final encouragement as we end the semeste- to pursue Christ and Christ alone!
See you tonight!
In Christ,
Johnny
