[RISE Weekly] From Sinner to Sons and Daughters!
Galatians 3:26 "For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus"
Dear Parents,
Camp is almost here! It is June 11, which means that we are less than two weeks away from camp! Summer camp is June 23-26 at Native Falls Campground, just thirty minutes away! There will be games, swimming, basketball, pickleball, fishing, a talent show, singing songs of praise, preaching of the word, discipleship, small groups, one on one conversations, and so much more. We are praying and hopings that the Lord will be at work through this camp to save students and bring them to Himself.
Summer camps have always been influential in my life. I look back on them as opportunites to get away from the distractions, get away from screens, get my mind off of the things that usually distracted me, and to set my attention on Christ, His word, and His people. It was at a camp when the Lord saved me! At a camp I learned to be honest about my sin and my struggles. At a camp that I started bearing the burdens of my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. At a camp when I started leading and serving the church. The Lord has used camps in so many ways throughout my life, and I have heard the same testimonies from so many other adults, including our staff members!
Camps are an incredible opportunity. They are fun, they are focused, they are intentional, and they are a time where the word of God is taught clearly and students come face to face with the reality of who they are before God. We don’t do camps just because other churches do them. We do camps because time after time and testimony after testimony, the Lord works in the lives of students through them. Students are saved, lives are transformed, and God is glorified!
That being said - students should be there! Your student should be there! Your neighbor should be there! Or maybe a cousin! That friend on your student’s sports team! They are all invited! Camp can serve as an incredible outreach opportunity to invite someone new, they can have the time of their lives, and they can hear the truth of God! Especially with this camp being so close - there has never been a better camp at which a new visitor would feel as comfortable to come! Invite those around you so that, Lord willing, they might come to know Jesus Christ as the Lord and savior of their life!

Tonight we will be spending our final night on our series on the gospel! The first week we learned that God is perfect Himself, and that He requires perfection from us. The second week we looked at ourselves, mankind, before God. We were created sinless, mankind sinned, sin entered the world, and now all of mankind is sinful and, in turn, deserving of the holy wrath of God. Last week we looked at Jesus Christ - start to finish. From everlasting to everlasting. From the His presence in the creation of mankind, to the cross, to His eternal reign.
This week we will take a look at us, sinners before a righteous God. We stand condemed and destined to destruction, and yet on our path towards judgement - there is hope to be found. Through the work of Christ upon the cross and the shedding of His own blood, there is forgiveness and grace for all who might believe in Him. For those who believe we no longer await wrath or punishment, for Christ bore the wrath. For the believer our future is not judgement, but grace. We are no longer sinners in the eyes of the Lord, but through the work of Christ on the cross we can be called sons and daughters of God. This is the incredible grace of God. Not by any work of ourselves, not by our own merit, not by our own holiness, but simply through the grace of our God. This is good news to all man. That grace and forgiveness can be found in the redeeming work of our God!
See you tonight!
In Christ,
Johnny
