Dear Parents,
It was such a joy to meet some of you last Wednesday night and it was especially exciting to welcome our new 6th graders! Iโve heard from many of you that they have been counting the days until they could start coming to youth... their energy and excitement definitely showed that! ๐ I am eager to get to know them and you a lot better!ย
THIS PAST SUNDAY...
This past Sunday morning, I had the pleasure of teaching your students on the importance and purpose of communion from 1 Corinthians 11:17-34. After observing some students take communion during past Sunday mornings, I just wanted to make sure that our students actually knew the purpose of communion, the seriousness of it, and who should be taking it. After we unanimously affirmed that communion is โnot a Sunday snack,โ we learned from Godโs Word that communion is meant for believers to regularly remember the death of Jesus Christ. There is a warning given to believers who partake in communion in an unworthy manner (disunity or conflict with the Lord or His body), so, we must make certain we approach communion with the right heart. Communion does not save anyone (neither does baptism, which weโll learn about next Sunday morning) but it is an ordinance given to believers by God in order for us to proclaim and remember the work our Savior has done for us. I encouraged your students to talk further about the subject with you at home.ย
THIS WEDNESDAY...
We are so excited for GAMETRAS this Wednesday! Same time, same place (see details at the bottom of this email). Gametras was created by the incredible Josh Petras (our summer camp speaker) when he was our JH pastor! It is a night of fun where students participate in a series of game stations and receive prizes. This Gametras is CARNIVAL-THEMED! Weโll go all out with carnival decorations, weโll have classic carnival games, popcorn, churros, and prizes! Your students are encouraged to DRESS-UP with the carnival theme (clown, cotton candy, mime, weight lifter, popcorn seller, get creative!)! The purpose of this break from our normal Wednesday night routine is to provide a focused opportunity for your students to build friendships with one another! I will also take some time at the end of the night to proclaim Christโs good news for us. Encourage your students to invite their Jr. High friends and neighbors to this night of EXTREME FUN!
OUTREACH...
I want so badly to share the gospel with as many Jr. High students in our area as possible. It is our great commission (Matthew 28:16-20) and our God is TOO GREAT not to share with as many as we can! This is why I am encouraging you and your students to invite as many Jr. High friends and neighbors as possible to our Wednesday nights (Gametras this Wednesday). This is also why I am adding a new event to our schedule before Summer Camp... a Jr. High DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT on Friday, June 4th (more details to come) which will be primarily focused on OUTREACH. I will offer a special summer camp discount and do whatever else I can to get new students to SUMMER CAMP! Will you please pray and consider joining me in this effort to evangelize and reach new students?
In Him,ย
Terrell

Last Week
What a wonderful time it was meeting all of the new incoming 6th graders! They were all so friendly and kind, and we canโt wait to get to know them more as the year progresses. After a fun game that is similar to monkey-in-the-middle, we sang praises to our Savior and then heard Terrell speak on how God is gracious and merciful. Our small groups then expanded on what this means and how the students can be transformed by the incredible, unchanging character of God. We celebrated the new students with some chocolate milk afterward and sweet fellowship.
