[RISE Weekly] Introducing the Tongue 👅🔥
New sermon series starts TONIGHT at the Behnan's from 6:30-8:30 PM!
Dear Parents,
Discipleship Group Hangouts last week were a BLAST! It is so fun (and needed) to sometimes take a break from our normal routine and just get some time to hangout with each other, fellowship, and build relationships. Your students need solid friendships with other students and relationships with older/godlier saints – the Christian life is not meant to be lived alone! This is one huge reason why youth group is so important and helpful for students – to build relationships that will help them in their walk with Christ. You can check out some pictures from D-Group Hangouts at the bottom of this email… although the guys NEVER think to take any pictures! Classic! 🤦♂️
YOUTH TONIGHT @ THE BEHNAN’S! 👅🔥
Join us TONIGHT (9/13), from 6:30–8:30 PM at the Behnan Home (36750 Robin Scott St, Murrieta, CA 92562) as we begin a NEW SERMON SERIES focused on the TONGUE! 👅
Proverbs 18:21 – “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.”
James 1:26 – “If anyone thinks himself to be religious [to be a genuine worshipper of God], and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless.”
The tongue is extremely POWERFUL and can be used either for much good OR much harm. If you were to walk onto a public middle school campus today, you would be HORRIFIED by what you hear coming out of their mouths. Students greatly struggle with sins of the tongue – unwholesome words, gossip, slander, and lies. In this series, we will examine how we often sin with our tongues and how INSTEAD we can use our tongues for the glory of God!
TONIGHT, students will be introduced to the tongue as we open up and study James 3:1-12. It is going to serve as a much needed call for self-examination and show us just how powerful the tongue really is. I pray that this series would be used to expose sin in the hearts of our students and ultimately lead them cry out to God for new hearts.
TABLE TALK THIS SUNDAY🔨
This Sunday (9/17) during 1st service, we will continue our “Table Talk” series with the following:
Question: How can we glorify God?
Answer: We glorify God by enjoying him, loving him, trusting him, and by obeying his will, commands, and law.
Key Passage: Deuteronomy 11:1
Each Sunday, we will introduce a new important topic like this but we encourage you to take it a step further and discuss the topic with your children at home as well!
