[RISE Weekly] SEMESTER LAUNCH AND IMPORTANT WINTER CAMP INFO 🥶❄️
Join us Wendesday for the launch of our Spring Semester! 6:30-8:30 PM
Dear Parents,
JUNIOR HIGH IS BACK!
I hope that your holidays were restful and wonderful! As much as my wife and I loved the time off and cherished the rest, we are so excited to get back into regularly meeting! I am so eager for the new semester and all that awaits us. Getting to spend time in the word with your students and walking them through God’s truth is such an incredible opportunity. Please join me and the rest of our staff in prayer for this spring semester! Pray for us staff, that we continue to grow in our own love for the Lord, for our own walks and that we would be right before Him, and that the Holy Spirit would work through us so that we may rightly divide the truth and speak with wisdom when interacting with students. Please pray for the students in our ministry. Pray that God would be at work in their hearts and that He would draw them to Himself. Ultimately, please pray that our ministry would glorify God in all that we do!
The remainder of this email contains answers to every single question you have related to winter camp!
JH WINTER CAMP 2025! ❄️
FOUR MORE DAYS!
Camp is less than a week away and we could not be more excited! This year we will be at Camp Maranatha from January 17-20! It will be an incredible time away from all distractions and focused on God’s Word! Of course, it will be jam-packed with FUN but we will more importantly spend time worshipping our Lord through song and biblical preaching! Camps such as these are such an awesome opportunity for relationships to be deepened, memories to be made, and lives to be changed through the work of the Lord! It is not too late to sign up! Additionally, if money is an issue- please talk to us! We will do anything we can to get your student to camp by any means necessary! Registration is still open and scholarships are still available! The links for both registration and scholarships are attached below. If there are any questions that I can answer to help get your student to camp, please reach out to me!
MUST COMPLETE BEFORE ARRIVAL:
Please make sure to complete the following BEFORE ARRIVAL.
Download, fill out, and PRINT OUT a copy of Camp Maranatha’s Liability Release Form and have your student bring it with them this Wednesday Night (1/15) or at Check-In on Friday (1/17). For the sake of simplicity, we will also have printed copies at youth on Wednesday if you would like to fill it out there. You can park, walk in, fill it out, hand it to the staff, and you’re set!
Upload a copy of your Medical Insurance Card (unless you are part of a health sharing program like Samaritans). Please note that we had to create a new folder for uploads – so, even if you already uploaded before, we need you to upload again into this new folder.
Make sure you have completed all the Attendee Info Questions within your student’s registration. If you haven’t, you would have received a separate email reminding you to do so.

NO PHONE POLICY:
In an effort to protect our students from the dangers of technology and the internet, as well as to make sure that your students get the most out of camp as possible by keeping them from distractions. I am asking students to NOT bring their cell phones or any other device to camp. If you would like them to bring their phone in order to communicate with you periodically, we will collect their phones at check-in and keep them charged and safe with us for the weekend (please provide their phone charger if you would like to do this). If they ever need to use it to contact you, they can simply ask any of our staff. Also, they can just use mine (Johnny’s) or any staff's phone to contact you. And you can contact me at any point if you have any questions or concerns (contact info at the bottom of this email). My heart is only to protect our students and eliminate any distractions for the weekend. ALSO – I will be sending out email updates every night of camp so you can know how our day went!
FOOD / LODGING / SHOWER INFO:
The food is going to be delicious and your student will never go hungry. There will always be water available to them and we will even have healthy snacks available to them throughout the day. Also, the Dining Hall at Camp Maranatha is open 24/7 and they offer water, a microwave, a toaster, fresh fruit, and all the fixings for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. If your student has any food allergies, our staff will be aware of it if you indicated it during registration. This also applies to all other allergies or medicine needs - we have a complete list of it all and will dedicate the weekend to making sure your student is safe.
Students will sleep in cabins with other students. Girls with girls and boys with boys. Staff will be spread out amongst the cabins to make sure students are safe and accounted for. If your student would like to shower (boys sometimes don't - gross but true), we recommend that they bring flip-flops. They will need their own towels. Cabin assignments will be provided at check-in - we will group students according to their grade/gender. Please let me know if you have any questions.
TALENT SHOW:
We will have a Winter Camp Talent Show on Sunday (1/19)! If your student would like to participate, they can sign-up at camp. All instruments/equipment desired for the talent show must be brought by the student – unfortunately, we cannot have students use our band’s instruments. If you or your student have any questions about the Talent Show, please don't hesitate to ask me!
NOT TOO LATE TO INVITE SIGN-UP JH FRIENDS!
Please make every last effort to invite JH friends, family, and neighbors! We want to reach as many students with the gospel as possible. Our corrupt culture is dragging students into immorality, fear, depression, and anxiety. We need to make every effort to reach the lost. Do not let money be an issue for them, we still have scholarships available. We will keep sign-ups open up until the day before camp
CONGRATULATIONS
You made it. It was a long email, but I hope that all of that information is beneficial to you and helps you in your preparation! If you have any further questions please reach out to me!
In Him,
Johnny Story
